Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

For most design projects, I recommend the VIP Day model. Depending on your project, I can recommend the number of days you need.

There are some cases where I recommend the traditional design model. Some examples are:

  • Projects with multiple team members (such as a collaborative site or an organization). When there are multiple people who need to review the designs and give feedback, the VIP model usually doesn’t work as well, as decisions need to be made quickly throughout the day.
  • Projects that include more complicated functionality such as e-commerce, courses, or memberships. (Simple e-commerce sites may still be a good fit for VIP Days.)
  • Projects where the client is unable to be readily available to give feedback continually during the day (due to work schedule, other meetings, etc.). It isn’t in the client’s best interest to do a VIP Day in this situation.

This definitely varies depending on your project. For example, some projects are for a brand new site with no existing content, while others are for an existing site that has all the content already written and just needs a facelift.

When I say “prep work,” this includes:

  • All text content for the site. (I can offer suggested resources to help you put together your own content, or I can recommend an excellent copywriter if you’re looking to hire someone for this important piece of your site. If your site already exists, you can also ask me to use all the current content or request changes to what you currently have as well.)
  • Any photos that you want to provide for the design. (These may include headshots, stock photos you like, etc. I can find stock photos during your VIP Day as well, but please keep in mind that searching for photos can be time consuming.)
  • Your existing logo and brand colors. (I do provide logo design services as well, but I do this prior to the VIP Day, so that you don’t have to make quick decisions about your branding.)
  • The logins for any applicable accounts I will need access to during your project.
  • A questionnaire regarding your target audience, goals for your site, design preferences, examples of sites you like, etc.

I ask that you complete the prep work and upload all files no later than 7 days prior to your scheduled VIP Day or by your start date for Traditional Design projects. This gives me time to review what you have submitted and ask any clarifying questions I may have so that we can maximize the time once I start work.

Currently my VIP Days are available for $1,500 per day. A 50% deposit is required to book your day, and then the remaining 50% is due at the end of your VIP Day.

Traditional Projects require a custom quote based on the scope of the project. To receive a quote, please get in touch.

I use the Kadence Theme on all sites that I build. You have the choice of a custom child theme, a Kadence Starter Theme or a Restored 316 Designs theme. (R316 themes are premium themes and will require you to purchase a license from the developer.)

Ongoing costs for WordPress sites include hosting and domain registration, as well as any premium plugins or services you choose for your site.

I also offer website care packages if you prefer to have me take care of ongoing updates for you.

VIP Day FAQs

Examples of what can typically be done during one VIP Day include:

  • a brand new 3-5 page site
  • a sales page and funnel setup
  • a punch list of all those changes you’ve been wanting
  • a design refresh and theme change (perfect for sites on the Genesis Framework that need to move to Kadence … highly recommended for all Genesis sites)

Check out my case studies for some examples!

Most of your part will be accomplished during the pre-work phase. You will need to be ready throughout the day to review the work and give prompt feedback when needed though. Most of my clients are busy doing other things, but they are actively watching for messages from me so they can reply right away.

Because you are booking me for the day, there isn’t a guaranteed set of deliverables. What you will receive is my undivided attention and focus to your project for that day. How much we can get done will depend on factors such as your completion of prep work and your prompt responses during the day. So it’s important to keep this in mind when you select the date for your VIP Day.

Because of the efficiency of the VIP Day framework, I am able to get an incredible amount done. (At the end of every VIP Day, I’m consistently surprised!) The cost of a VIP Day actually works out to be comparable to the cost of a similar traditional project, but you see the results in a single day, rather than waiting weeks.

No problem! We can discuss how many days will be needed for the project, and you can book multiple VIP Days. Or you can start with one day and add on as needed.
